“In Brooklyn, it was as though you were in your own little bubble.
You were all part of one big, but very close family …
and you could sense the affection people had for you.”
― Don Drysdale
The Seaview Shawl, a loving tribute to my hometown of Brooklyn, New York, evokes cherished memories of my upbringing.
Water has always held a special place in my heart, a source of solace and tranquility that stems from my formative years in this vibrant neighborhood. No matter how far my journey takes me, Brooklyn’s spirit will forever reside within me, a place where I learned to dream and craft my own unique path.
This exquisite shawl is a journey in itself, worked from the top down. It begins with a garter tab cast-on, which paves the way for the enchanting textured stitch that unfolds like the waves of my childhood by Seaview Pier, gazing out over the serene bay. The center spine of the shawl features a delicate cable, echoing the gentle ripples and rolling waves that dance along the water’s surface.
As you knit your Seaview Shawl, may it carry you back to your own cherished memories, and remind you of the beauty and resilience that shaped you.
