This reversible scarf mixes up blocks and stripes to make a barrier against the cold. The two-layer design keeps it neat and elegant, while making it super-cosy in winter. In soft Alpaca, it will keep out icy chills.

The colourwork is all simple stripes, no intarsia. You will also need to be able to pick up stitches and work a 3-needle bind off.

You will have enough of the contrast colours left to make Leeward hat and Port & Starboard wristees from the Safe Haven ebook. My lovely sample knitter even managed to get the contrast colours for a bonus Tide Tables out of her skeins. Just add extra of the main colour for each piece you want to make from the ebook.

Materials
The pattern works for any good 4ply/fingering to sportweight yarn since it is worked to measurements, not row counts.

100% baby alpaca, 100m/110yds per 50g skein
3 x Licorice 803 (A)
1 x each of Relish 808 (B), Bubblegum 811 (C), Taupe 505 (D), Blue Cheese 812 (E), Dijon 807 (F)
(If you wish to make a larger custom size, allow more yarn.)
3.75mm/US 5 & 3.5mm/US 4 circular needles with 150cm/60” cable, to work back and forth in long rows.
Spare needle one or two sizes larger for 3-needle bind off.
Length of waste yarn for holding stitches (or if using interchangeables, spare cable minimum 120cm/48” & end caps.)

Tension
Not critical. Recommend a gauge that makes a soft fabric since it will be doubled. Sample shown has 22 sts and 30 rows to 10cm/4” square in Stocking Stitch (Stockinette) using 3.75mm/US 5 needles or size required to get gauge.
