Seaweed Jumper
by Jane Reay
This jumper was inspired by the textures and colours of seaweed on our local beach. It draws on the aran tradition of knitting and uses a design referred to as seaweed or tree of life by the island communities. The style is vintage, giving a neat fit with set in sleeves and a fold over, stretchy neck. It is worked in double knitting yarn giving a lighter finish for children than the thicker aran yarns. I have knitted it successfully in both pastels and bolds for both boys and girls.
