Second Chance Hat
Pattern Notes
Do you have lots of fingering weight scraps leftover and can’t bear to throw them out? Small bits that just aren’t enough for a full project? This is the perfect project to use up all those odds and ends. And the best part? This hat has very few ends to weave in! Most ends can be knitted in as you go. A photo tutorial is provided for the knitting in of ends - this is a separate PDF file included with your purchase. Just to reiterate – you do not need to weave in most of the ends!
Color Notes
This hat uses 28 different colors of yarn (plus the brim color) if you change each time indicated in the chart. It’s also possible to use a single light color paired with darker scraps, or vice versa.
I organized my scraps into light and dark piles. Colors are referred to as DC (dark color) and LC (light color). But feel free to mix this up as you please!
The Autumn colorway uses shades of deep red
for the lower parts of the diamonds and jewel
tones for the tops of the same diamonds.
The Blues colorway uses blue and green scraps for the darker diamonds and light grays for the lighter color diamonds.
The Rainbow colorway uses…you guessed it,
rainbow colors for the darker triangles and a single skein of a light color speckle for the light portions of the hat.
Construction Notes
The hat is knit from the bottom up in the round.
