Secret Garden Blanket
This issue we bring you the start of another exciting new mystery blanket from Sabina Poonwassie. A riot of colour with an abundance of blooms, this blanket is hooked in cool cottons to make the perfect summer accessory.
We’ve made it the size of a beach towel so it’s ideal to throw over your sun lounger or garden bench, but you could easily keep hooking to make it large enough to make a cheerful picnic blanket, or use as a bedspread.
Alternatively, as you will see once you start hooking, the blanket is made in three parts with each third having an individual character – Summer Sky, Buttercups In The Grass and Garden In Bloom. Each of these “thirds” of the blanket could be made separately and then folded over into squares to make three different gorgeous summery cushions.
Part One
The first part of this fun blanket sees you create the colourful ground, which will be embellished in the next two issues. There is only one motif to crochet this issue, but the colours chosen create a beautifully pixelated gradient of colour across the blanket from cool blues to firey hues.
Stay tuned for the first of the floral motifs in issue 68 next month, when the flat ground begins to be embellished with glorious three-dimensional flowers.
Part Two
Hook the second part of Sabina Poonwassie’s gorgeous new mystery project – a colourful garden-themed summer blanket.
A riot of colour, an abundance of blooms… this blanket made in cool cottons is the perfect summer accessory. We’ve made it the size of a beach towel so it’s ideal to throw over your sun lounger or garden bench. Alternatively each of the three parts would made three different gorgeous summery cushions.
