Secret Garden Flower Mosaic
This new Secret Garden Flower Mosaic afghan is a modern design and perfect for every flower lover. I made this for my teenage daughter with her choice of colors, and I can’t wait to see it made up in other color schemes as well!
This pattern is done in overlay mosaic style. If you are new to mosaic crochet, there are many wonderful tutorials on YouTube that can help you familiarize yourself with the technique. Any confident advanced beginner to intermediate crochet enthusiast can pick this up quickly! The basic stitches required are chain, slip stitches, single and double crochets.
This afghan is one large design with no repeats, so it is one size in its entirety. It could be customized smaller by cropping the columns and rows you complete, but as written, with a light DK weight yarn, the finished blanket measures approximately 52”x70”.
The pattern is a downloadable PDF file containing several pages of detailed written instructions, pictures, and charts that outline the process, as well as some links to tutorials that are very helpful to learn the overlay mosaic technique.
Between 3600-4200 yards of DK weight yarn (approximately 1800-2200 yards of each color) were used. If you choose to add a border or make a different length, you can adjust yarn amount needed.
