Sometimes, simplicity is the key to a successful design…simplicity with a twist. Recognizing the qualities of your yarn can contribute to the finished project. In the case of my SECRET SQUARES COWL, I did both: I used the simple square as a motif and took advantage of the yarn’s long colorway, working from both ends of the skein and using a simple stranding technique. The resulting cowl is a quiet yet intriguing finished project. What fun to see the squares of different colors emerging as I knitted!
