This listing is for my Snowy Owl Crochet Pattern. Sede the Snowy Owl is a fun project for advanced crocheters.

SIZE: Sede the Snowy Owl will be approx. 16cm/6.3 inches tall from head to toe with a wingspan of 44cm/17.3 inches if using the indicated hooks and yarns. If you want her to be larger or smaller you can use a different yarn weight and adjust the hook size accordingly.

SKILL LEVEL: This pattern is most suitable for advanced crocheters and seasoned amigurumi enthusiasts.

CONSTRUCTION: The toes, feet, legs, body and head are crocheted in one piece. The tail feathers are crocheted on. The fluffy parts around the legs are crocheted and sewn on. The fluffy part around the eyes, the beak, and the wings are sewn on. The feathers on the wings are crocheted on. The markings, talons and eye-lines are embroidered.

MATERIALS AND TOOLS:

  • DK / light worsted weight/size 3 yarn in white (4 to 5 x 50g skeins = 300 to 375m) I used Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in white
  • DK / light worsted weight/size 3 yarn in brown (1/2 x 50g skein = 35 to 40m) I used Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in chocolate
  • DK / light worsted weight/size 3 yarn in black (small remnant) I used Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in black
  • James C. Brett Faux Fur Chunky in color H7 (white) or a similar yarn. Ideally, the yarn should have long, featherlike fibers and a thin central strand. (about 1/4 skein = 20 to 30m)
  • 2.5mm crochet hook / Size B-1 or C-2 depending on how tightly you crochet
  • 3.5mm crochet hook / Size E-4
  • 21mm / 0.8” yellow owl safety eyes
  • Fiberfill
  • Sturdy (preferably thin) cardboard
  • Pencil
  • Set square (optional)
  • Paper scissors
  • Stitch markers
  • Yarn needle (preferably with bent tip)
  • Large-eyed sewing needle
  • A small amount of black embroidery floss
