The pattern: A Cushion Cover of Cozy Distinction and Amazing Generosity.

This oversized pillow cover front is a sculptural kaleidoscope of shapes and textures, created with deep symmetrical cables. The look is versatile for any decor. Two versions are included, to make a matching but slightly different pair. The knitted blocks can either be tacked onto a purchased decorative pillow, or sewn into a pillow cover which will go over a purchased pillow form. The pattern is written for use with a 24” square pillow form.

Possible Variations: Because this pattern becomes a perfect square as you go, you can easily make the knitted block to fit any size square pillow form. Simply knit until the square is the right size. This means that almost any weight of yarn, from aran weight up, can be used, and gauge becomes a non-issue.

Afghan option: The pattern creates a fully reversible block, which means this pattern could be used to make a stunning reversible afghan. For example, if you were to knit six 24 inch blocks, and connect them in a 2 x 3 configuration, you would have a nice 4’ x 6’ afghan.

The pattern includes both written and charted instructions.

The yardage estimate shown above is for one pillow. For a 24” pillow, the estimated amount is just a few yards over the amount of yarn in one skein of Cascade Ecological Wool. If a 22” pillow form were used instead, the pattern could be bound off 1” (4 rows) early, allowing the pillow front to be made with one skein of the suggested wool.

The Hope Project is helping the African village of Gardnersville in war-torn Liberia by offering a tuition-free school for 1200 children, including the provision of clean drinking water and medical care. This is the purest grass-roots ministry project I have ever had the privilege of supporting. It was started by friends of ours and a few other families who adopted children from Gardnersville. Spin-off benefits of the school they have established include hope and dignity regained, and a beautiful witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ as physical and spiritual needs are being met.
