I live in Pittsburgh and the weather finally broke this week after what felt like the longest winter in history. I just ordered my new gardening books and started preparing for my garden and I felt inspired to knit something that reflected my anticipation for all the things that will soon be growing in my yard.

Materials
Two US 8 (5 mm) 16 inch circular needles
One skein of Patons Classic Wool in Orchid (223 yards)
Size H (5 mm) crochet hook
2 yards of scrap yarn
Tapestry needle for weaving in ends.

Gauge
4 X 4 inches= stitches 18 X 24 rows in stockinette stitch
