Seesaw Sweater
Please enjoy Seesaw sweater and matching Seesaw cowl - 25% off with code - spring (works to March23)
Seesaw sweater is a crew neck sweater with regular fit and slightly cropped length.
It’s designed with a combination of Garter stitch and waves pattern on the bottom of the body and sleeves. These waves remind of a seesaw play in childhood, so here is where the name for this sweater comes from. Seesaw sweater is great for everyday wear or some special day outfits.
It perfectly pairs with skirts or jeans and pants.
Seesaw sweater is worked top down and seamlessly.
You started work with the back yoke, shaped shoulder with increases in every row and continued working in Garter stitch to the underarms. Once the back yoke is ready, back yoke stitches are placed on hold, left and right front shoulders are picked up separately while the neckline is shaped with increases. As the neckline is ready, both fronts are joined together and continued working in Garter stitch to the underarms. After, back and front yokes are joined and worked in the round. Body is continued working in wave pattern to the hem. Sleeves are picked up from the armholes and worked in the round: first in Garter stitch and after in wave pattern to the cuffs. The last touch – neckline is worked in 1x1 ribbing, folded and attached to the inside.

approx 5 (5, 6, 6, 7, 7, 7) balls / 125 (125, 150, 150, 175, 175, 175) g of Drops Kid Silk
(75% mohair, 25% silk; 25g / 0.88oz – 210 m / 230 yds);
If you decide to make the sweater longer, you will need more yarn than estimated.
Yardage: approx 870 (950, 1040, 1140, 1240, 1340, 1430) m / 951 (1039, 1137, 1247, 1356, 1465, 1564) yds of similar heavy dk weight yarn OR each heavy fingering/sport weight yarn and lace mohair weight yarn.
Suggested yarn: heavy fingering/sport weight yarn held together with a lace mohair yarn OR heavy dk/light worsted weight yarn worked single stranded to obtain the required gauge.
It’s recommended to use yarn with high percentage of natural wool or any combination of natural wool with mohair. Do not recommended to use any superwash wool as Garter stitch can grow unpredictably after blocking.
Gauge
21 sts x 36 rnds = 10 cm (4’’) in Garter stitch in the rnd and back and forth in rows after blocking.
21 sts x 30 rnds = 10 cm (4’’) in Wave pattern in the rnd after blocking.
Take time to check your gauge before starting your project.
Techniques used: Long tail cast on, work in the round and back and forth in rows, M1L and M1R increases, pick up stitches, yo, ktbl, k2tog and ssk decreases, stretchy bind off.
