Seileach Pullover
The Seileach Pullover, brings to mind the gentle tones and shapes in the catkins that grace the willow in the Spring. The word Seileach is Gàidhlig (Scottish Gaelic) for Willow.
The design is simple but makes a big impact. A band of color-work circles the body just above a split hem, then garter rib texture is worked throughout the body and sleeves. A crew neck collar features a little roll at the end that matches the cuffs. The shoulders are drop style and a band of color-work encircles the bicep. The construction is bottom-up, and all colorwork is done in the round.
The fit is boxy with positive ease, and makes for a cozy and versatile piece. I enjoy wearing mine over jeans, and slacks, as well as over a light dress or skirt.
The sweater is knitted in DK weight yarn, on size US 7/4.5 mm needles.
The pattern, like all my garment patterns, is size inclusive and offers several options for customization throughout. The directions include instructions for a long sleeved, short sleeves, or vest option, as well as yardages and measurements for all options.
You can also customize the length, and collar width.
Worksheets I have included in the pattern offer support for fit customization as well. These include drop shoulder height adjustment, and optional bust darts to ensure every body type can enjoy a well fitted garment.
See photos for schematic and sizing chart.
My sample is knitted in Loch Lomond by BCGarn. I loved working with this yarn, it’s light and fluffy ,which added to the boxy fit, and the heathering in the yarn made for beautiful depth in the color.
