The cowl represents the Ukrainian flag and their Coat of Arms. We designed it,, and Alexandra created kits for it as a way to show solidarity. The yarn is Merlin which is a little lighter than Pendleton and comes in a kit called Ukraine that you can find at Stitches West.

You do need to know how to read a chart to complete the pattern. It uses stranded knitting techniques with pretty long floats so it is helpful to be able to catch floats.
