Selkie Redux Wrap
‘Selkie Redux’ is a knitted lace wrap or scarf, based around a drifting kelp/fin stitch pattern for the main/upper body, with cabled, helical openwork along the curved lower edge. It a reworking of my Selkie shawl pattern.
It’s knitted on both sides, including purling through the back loops of stitches and some cabling, hence not a mindlessly easy shawl. However, the pattern isn’t significantly challenging, is very rhythmic, and is a satisfying and interesting knit.
Scylfing DK is a characterful yarn with a beautifully soft hand, spun from a 75/25 blend of the finest British Bluefaced Leicester and Gotland wool, and has been custom-spun for us by Laxtons in Yorkshire. It has a 3-ply construction, medium twist, and is a good all-round, general purpose DK weight yarn. The rough, ‘rustic’ blend of grey Gotland with the creamy Bluefaced Leicester gives the yarn a heathered look, and lends itself to great depth of colour. We’re very proud of Scylfing here at Triskelion!
A kit is available on the Triskelion website, and includes two skeins of Scylfing DK in your chosen colour, and free electronic copies of both charted and written patterns. Free download codes for Ravelry are also available so that you can add the pattern to your library.
