The Selma Lace top has all the attributes to be a true favourite for a girly, feminine baby girl/toddler this summer!
The lace peplum is wider than the rest of the body and hides dipers or elastic waistbands, the pattern of the body is close-fitting but comfortable due to the ribbing, the eyelets bordering the neckline and armholes add even more girly details, as well as the small buttons in the front. If you want you can embellish the top even more by adding some embroidered flowers.

The top is easy and fun to make. If you can work k2tog, yo and sl1k1psso, you probably have all the skills needed to make this sweet top. It is worked bottom-up and in the round, leaving very little seaming in the end; only the few stiches for shoulders. (If you use the tree-needle bind-off mehod you don’t have to seam a single stich!) Stiches are picked up along the armholes and neckline to work the finishing touch of an eyelet-border. I give you instructions both in cm’s and inches. The lace-pattern is worked following a clear and easy-to-follow chart. I give you written row-by-row instructions as well.

I worked this top in “Catania” from Schachenmayr. This cotton comes in a huge range of colors from soft to bright. Imagine the Selma Lace Top in a sunray yellow, a fern-green, a soft pink or an ocean blue! The gauge is 27st and 32 rows when working the rib-pattern of k5,p1. You might substitute the Catania for another cotton as long as you respect the gauge.
