This shawl is based on my popular Alicia shawl. It can be adjusted to any size, and could potentially use any yarn. Use a hook slightly larger than that recommended for the yarn to achieve a nice drape. It was created using a self-striping yarn, but a solid or a variegated would also work. Gauge and yardage estimates are somewhat useless, but I do suggest you prepare with more yarn than you think you might need.

This will work best with a solid foundation in the wedge/pie slice terminology I use in speaking about crochet in the round. Link to the tutorial video in the PDF pattern itself.
