Semicolon Shawl
A semicolon is used when an author could’ve ended a sentence but chose not to. You are the author and the sentence is your life.
The shawl is for everyone who is suffering, but has chosen to continue. Use it to send love to someone who’s struggling or make it for yourself, when you need a project to focus on and help you get through. The pattern works up quickly, for when you need a last minute gift or pick-me-up. It’s mindless enough so that you can work on it when anxious or stressed, but has enough detail to provide a distraction.

Yarn, Yardage, and Colors
The sample was worked in a sport weight, but the pattern works well in anything from a lace to a worsted weight. It’s a perfect stash buster - one skein is enough for a full shawl and it pairs well with anything from a variegated to a speckled to a gradient. The pattern has a built in edging, so you can work until you use up your yarn.
Skills Required
ch, sc, tr, sl st, working flat, Chainless starting triple crochet (optional); Working into the ch-space; Working flat; Working repeats within a repeat

Overview of the Finished Object
The Semicolon Shawl is a large lacy shawl. It’s shaped as a half-hexagon, with a top edge that curves slightly upwards. The pattern features large sections of very open lace interspersed with periodic rows of more solid stitches. The solid rows are not straight, rather they have a chevron like appearance.

Printing
The pattern includes large photos on the first and last pages, so print accordingly.
Screen Reader Compatibility
The main pattern pdf is designed to be screen reader compatible. The text is all in one column and headers are formatted according to the style sheet. The pattern is written out completely and the images have descriptive alt text. Please note that the pattern has nested repeats, which may make it more challenging to follow with a screen reader.
