Semilunar
The unusual shape of this shawl is achieved by working in short rows. Counting and stitch markers are therefore essential.
I used 3 skeins (400m each) of hand dyed sock yarn and this quantity is enough to make 19 full wedges plus the top wedge/border.
The design is worked in one piece with each wedge being added to the next as you go, finishing with one large wedge/border along the whole length.
Gauge is not so important for this. You could make this in any weight yarn and any number of wedges to give you various sizes, just use a hook size which will give you a good drape.
I would suggest using at least 2 different colours to achieve a similar result (I used 3), or you could make each wedge in a different colour - useful for using up those leftovers!
One of my testers made a single colour version worked in a variegated yarn. Although she was happy with the result she did not feel that the single colour showed off the design. I have uploaded a picture so you can see what you think.
