#5 in the No Face Native American Doll Series: This Seminole Doll is wearing traditional clothing of the Seminole Women. Her blouse and cape were made as one garment. The blouse was short (just below the bust line) and loose, with long full sleeves. Their skirts were full and very colorful with the patchwork made in every household. There were sewing machines in every Seminole camp by the late 1800’s. The women also cherished their beaded necklaces. A Seminole woman would wear as many as she could afford!

I do a lot of research before beginning one of these dolls. For this Seminole doll, I wanted to convey a sense of the rich patchwork patterns thru crochet. This pattern on her Skirt represents “Rain”. Other patterns made by the Seminole Women represented Fire, Man on horse, Tree etc.

Yarn: For the Doll and Hair, you will need Red Heart Super Saver in Buff and Black. The clothing is made with Knit Picks Brava Sport yarn in: Sky, Red, White, Black, Canary and Silver

Supplies: scissors, tapestry needle, stitch marker, fiber-fil, 6/0 beads for necklace in any colors you like, needle for beading, thread or Nymo D (beading thread), hook & eye (found in fabric notions)
