‘Seoritgaeul’ is a pure Korean word that means the season when the first frost begins to fall.
It usually refers to late October, when the air turns crisp and cool—perfect for layering a cozy vest full of cables.

The Seoritgaeul Vest is a loose-fitting drop shoulder vest with a deep V-neck and plenty of cable texture throughout.
While the pattern includes techniques like short rows and cables at the same time—making it not the easiest project—it is fully written row by row, so if you follow step by step, even adventurous beginners can give it a try.

The short rows are written using the Japanese short row technique, but don’t worry if it’s new to you—the instructions are detailed enough to guide you through it without prior knowledge.
If you prefer a different short row method, there’s a version of the instructions without the Japanese technique as well.

Gauge
Although gauge is typically given over a 10×10cm swatch for convenience, the stitch repeat of the Seoritgaule Vest is wider than 10cm. For reference, the standard gauge is noted as 23.2 sts × 26 rows (flat), 27 rounds (in the round) per 10×10cm. However, the actual stitch repeat measures 66 sts = 28.5cm.

5mm circular needles, 60cm or longer (main needle)
4mm circular needles, 60cm or longer (for body ribbing)
4mm circular needles, 40–50cm (for neck and armhole ribbing)
3mm circular needles, 60cm or longer (for picking up sts; if not available, use your thinnest needle)

How to knit
Work the back yoke. Pick up sts from the back yoke and work the left front yoke. Pick up sts from the back yoke and work the right front yoke. Join the left and right front yokes, and work across the front. Join the front and back yokes, and work the body to the desired length. Work ribbing for the body. Pick up sts around the neckline and work ribbing. Pick up sts around each armhole and work ribbing.

경사뜨기와 교차뜨기를 함께 해야 하는 부분이 있어서 아주 쉬운 난이도는 아니지만, 도안에 한 단씩 서술되어 있기 때문에 차근차근 따라 뜨실 수 있어요.
