Seppen
Seppen - snowflake in Japanese - is a stranded colourwork cowl designed to use alternate ends of two skeins of the same gradient to create a stunning ombre transition through the snowflakes.
This pattern is knitted in the round and charted, with minimal written instructions. Ensure that you keep your floats even throughout your work. I held both colours in my right hand to minimize colour dominance. This pattern has a jog at the beginning of the round - but this can easily be placed at the back of the neck, where it won’t go noticed.
Materials:
2 skeins of Yarn Ink Worsted gradient (sample knit in Mint)
US 5 (3.75mm) needle (or needle to get gauge), 16” (40cm) or above - I used travelling loop for this project to keep the floats even.
Notions:
Stitch Marker
Tapestry Needle
Scale
Sewing thread (or long yarn tails!)
Gauge:
25st and 23 rows = 4” (10cm) of the motif in stockinette in the round.
Finished Dimensions:
