This design is the sixth of a series—twelve cowls in sequence knitting for 2024. This month, we’re working the {k6, p2} sequence flat, in a serpentine method, and seaming it in an interesting way to shape the cowl. Wear the cowl with the split over your shoulder, or like an open collar. Traditional instructions and a chart are included in the pattern, as well as sequence knitting instructions.

Next month, we’re moving on to a different sequence, and a simple spiral cowl.

Special thanks to Alainn Yarns for providing their Wanderer DK yarn for the sample.

This is an easy project. The techniques you will need to know, or learn, to complete the cowl are:

  • cast on and bind off;
  • knit and purl;
  • simple seaming.

The chart’s numbers are on the wrong sides of the chart. A corrected chart is shown on the left of this page.
