SERENDIPITY ~ A versatile dress that is both rich in new and improved techniques and stylish in form. The dress can be worked in one colour throughout or follow the variations offered, making it suitable for all seasons.

Even though Lizzie cannot go to London (virtually speaking), she was such a trouper wearing her knitted dress on a baking hot :desert: day here in Mexico.

Designer’s Note: I now will be releasing new designs for City Styles as Single Patterns as and when I have them ready, yet continuing working the book, City Styles, as a framework for each new design.Hopefully I can still produce the book with all the single patterns included with some exclusives added too! ~ Deb

Pattern suitable for yarn exchange: Using Sport #2 weight, (5ply UK, NZ, AU), and going up one needle size (suggested 3.5mm). Yardage will be a variable depending on yarn/needle choice

Pattern Features:

• Main body of dress features a subtle Little Wave Stitch using Crossed (Twisted) Stitches on a background of Stockinette Stitch panels, flanked with panels of Hunters Ribbing that are shaped with Inverted Pleats at center front, formed at the empire waistline.

  Inverted pleats are a pair of wide pleats (one right, one left) that are arranged so that the folds are apart from each other

• 3/4 length sleeves (with option to work longer) worked in 2 x 1 Ribbing, with Stockinette Stitch used for the sleeve caps with extra fullness incorporated into raglan shaping

Construction: Worked flat: back and forth in rows.
Pattern begins with Sleeves worked from cuffs to armholes that are later joined to Main Body for raglan shaping with sleeves caps incorporated and seamed at completion.

Main Body worked in one piece from ribbed Hemline to armholes, then each section is worked individually on through neckband shaping.

SKILL LEVEL: EASY TO INTERMEDIATE
Project uses basic stitches/patterns with an easy LITTLE WAVE STITCH that makes use of crossed stitches along with simple shaping and finishing

Instructions: Formatted with line-by-line written instructions given throughout, with the option to work to measurement, and includes buttonhole placement.

Materials: 190 - 231 yards (55 - 62 grams) Fingering #1 Superfine (4ply UK, NZ, AU) Or Light Fingering #2 Fine (5ply UK, NZ, AU)

Knitting Needles: Pair of 3.25mm (US 3) throughout: straights or circular ~16” (40cm) length
OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE
(Circular needle used to accommodate the extra stitches when joining sleeves with main body)

Gauge: Using 3.25mm: 8sts, 10 rows in 1” over LITTLE WAVE STITCH based on Light Fingering #2 Fine (5ply)

Materials Used in Sample: Classic 5ply by Bendigo Woollen in Holly colorway, #2 Fine with Light Fingering scraps used for gray contrast & Sport scraps used for yellow contrast (for sport I went down a needle size)
Note: The yarn used ↑ worked up for me as a Fingering #1 Superfine (4ply)

Notions: 10 Buttons size 9mm, 4 Stitch Markers, 4 DPN’s used for INVERTED PLEATS (choose a size close to knitting needles used), Darning Needle

Optional Embellishment: Lace Trim of desired length and width
