Serial Pooling Cowl
This pattern was created as part of the subscription box: Serial Kittens, which is a collaboration with Serial Knitters DyeHouse and Schmutzerella Yarns.
This cowl uses planned pooling technique in the round and is a custom design for ONE single skein that has two colors, each in one consecutive section.
The main color is knitted in textured stitches and the contrasting one is knitted in a simple lace stitch.
This pattern includes all the necessary instructions to create this planned pooling project. You must swatch in order to calculate how many stitches to CO. The instructions apply to either fingering or DK weight yarn.
There will be a little bit of basic math, not to worry, you are a knitter, therefore you are smart. I recommend that you read through the whole pattern before you start. I have included an example with actual numbers, that should illustrate what we are trying to achieve and how to get there.

Gauge is not important. Just swatch to make sure you like the knitted fabric.
Needles: I used US#6 for Fingering and US#8 for DK.
Finished measurements: it depends on your gauge and whether you are using fingering or DK, but the resulting cowl would be between 35” and 45” around and about 8” to 12” deep. When doing a planned pooling project, the number of stitches to CO is based on your yarn, needles and gauge. We chose a cowl because size is irrelevant. You may loop it twice around your neck or let it drape freely.
