I really liked the concept of a helix or spiral scarf, but I am not a huge fan of garter stitch and the garter stitch center band between the ruffled edges didn’t send me.
I thought about adding a reversible design element down the center, and since it is a twisted design, a reversible cable seemed ideal.
What I didn’t realize until I started actually knitting, is that the twisted nature of the cable reinforces the twisting of the whole scarf.
I wish I could say that I was brilliant enough to have predicted the effect, but it was merely a happy accident.
