SKILL LEVEL
Ambitious Beginner – working from chart, basic cables, knitting in the round, simple decreases and finishing.
TO FIT SIZE
Baby (toddler, child) - 14 (16, 18) in / 35.5 (40.5, 45.75) cm head circumference
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Brim circumference unstretched 12 ½ (13 ¾, 16 ¼) in / 31.75 (35, 41.25) cm. Finished measurements allows for about 2 inches of negative ease for better fit.
YARN
Approximately 60 (70, 80) yards / 55 (65, 75) meters of any yarn which knits to the specified gauge. Sample done in Soft Tweed (56% wool/20% acrylicviscose/14% polyamide / 10& silk) 87 yards / 50g skein by RYC.
GAUGE
16 sts and 22 rows = 4” (10 cm) over Stocking stitch knit in the round.
NEEDLES & NOTIONS
Size 5 mm (US8) double pointed needles or size required to obtain correct gauge.
Cable needle, 4 Stitch markers & 1 stitch marker of contrast colour, tapestry needle.
