Slytherin is one of the four Houses at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Founded by Salazar Slytherin, the house is composed mostly of pure-blood students, due to its founder’s mistrust of Muggleborns. Its emblematic animal is a snake and its colours are green and silver.

Gli studenti di Hogwards sono suddivisi in quattro case che prendono il loro nome dai quattro fondatori della scuola: Godric Grifondoro, Salazar Serpeverde, Priscilla Corvonero e Tosca Tassorosso.
La casa di Serpeverde (Slytherin in inglese, che alla lettera significa “strisciante”) richiede ambizione, astuzia, intraprendenza. Il Cappello Parlante recita: “O forse a Serpeverde, ragazzi miei, vi troverete gli amici migliori, quei tipi astuti ed affatto babbei che qui raggiungono fini ed onori!”. Lo stemma della casa è un serpente d’argento in campo verde.
