Bands of stocking stitch and reverse stocking stitch surround bands of texture creating a cowl that is interesting and fun to knit and that will naturally fold and slouch for ease of wear. A unisex design, this is bound to become a permanent feature in your winter wardrobes – you could knit one for each day of the week!

Knit in a dk weight yarn it is warm and cosy but not too bulky. There are two different heights (measurements given below) depending on how you like to wear your cowls. The large measures 14” (36 cm) deep using approximately 270m of yarn whereas the small is 9” (23 cm) and uses approximately 185m of yarn.

Finished size (as written): Worked as written: large – 26” (66cm) circumference and 11.25” (28.5 cm) tall before blocking and 27” (69cm) circumference and 14” (36 cm) tall after; small – 26” (66cm) circumference and 7.75” (19.5 cm) tall before blocking and 27” (69cm) circumference and 9” (23 cm) tall after blocking. Measurements taken using DFY Silk/Merino DK. Final measurements will depend on yarn used, tension and blocking and are therefore given as a guide only.

Circular Needles: 4mm (US 6) and 5mm (US) 14”circular needles and 4” tips or sizes to create a pleasing fabric, Stitch Markers, Needle, Blocking Pins. Changing needle size and gauge will result in a change in yardage requirements.

Gauge: 17.5 sts to 4” stocking stitch using 4mm (US6) needles with measurements taken after blocking. A difference in tension will result in a difference in yardage requirements and final measurements.

The pattern is both fully written and partially charted.
