The Setup Bonnet is a great first project for your Dean and Bean’s Circular Sock Machine, and will help make casting on easier for future projects. It is also an excellent way to familiarize yourself with your circular sock machine and its various techniques. A Crank Along video series is available on our YouTube channel.

Gauge is not critical.

Materials needed:

  • Fingering weight sock yarn - wool with 20% nylon is ideal. We’ve observed that thinner sock yarns knit easier

  • Ravel Cord

  • Waste yarn

  • Split rings - half as many as total needles in your cylinder

  • 6 pieces of scrap yarn, 6” each

  • 18” of 3/8” wide grosgrain ribbon (texture helps the ribbon stay tied)

  • Fray Check (for the ribbon)

Standard Tools Used:

  • Soft weights

  • Latch tool

  • Loom tool

  • Pick tool

  • Darning or tapestry needle
