This striking cowl sports alternating bands of purled welts and knitted valleys that slant through a dramatic center section of short row shaping. Cleverly worked in the round, with included tips for jogless striping, Setzer’s deeply textured fabric is equally eye-catching and warmth-trapping. Knit it in your choice of three heights – woolen-spun Shelter or Tones work up into a lofty, lightweight chill blocker, while plush worsted-spun Imbue creates the ultimate in cozy cuddliness.
Construction
This cowl is worked circularly from beginning to end in a 3x3 vertical welt pattern throughout. The welt pattern is made up of successive Welts (3 rounds of purl) and Valleys (3 rounds of knit). The slanting welts at the center of the cowl are shaped using short rows.
