Seven Sisters Vest
The Seven Sisters Vest is a great project for anyone wanting to try intarsia for the first time. It is worked flat from the bottom up using intarsia technique for the front of the vest. After the front panel has been made, the back panel is knit in one colour. The three needle bind off is used to attach the front and back piece together at the top, and the sides are seamed up using mattress stitch. Lastly, stitches are picked up around the neck and the collar ribbing is worked in the round.
Level: Intermediate.
Yarn weight: Chunky (bulky).
Yarn used: Air by Drops held double, or any other chunky weight you can meet gauge with.
Needles: 8.00mm straight knitting needles (or 8.00mm circular needles with a length of at least 80cm) and an extra 8.00mm needle for the three needle bind off. 7.00mm 40cm circular knitting needle.
Gauge: 12 stitches 17 rows knit in stockinette on 8.00mm needles = 4x4 inch / 10x10 cms. square.
Sizes: XS (S) M (L) XL (2XL) 3XL (4XL) 5XL.
Fit: The Seven Sisters Vest is boxy and cropped. It is loose and relaxed enough that it can be worn over a t shirt, but also looks lovely worn by itself.
