I modified a shell pattern from a 1912 newspaper to slightly improve its look. It starts with 17 stitches and has an 8-row repeat. The stitch count increases to 23 stitches on row 3 and gradually decreases back to 17 stitches on row 7. The swatch is about 2 inches wide when blocked to gauge.

Skills needed: cast on, knit, purl, YO, k2tog, SSK, p2tog, p2tog tbl and bind off in knit stitch.

Gauge is not important in this pattern. Any block-able yarn/thread will work. Make a swatch to check gauge and appearance.

35 yards of #10 crochet thread will make about 10” of Seychelles Sea Shell strip in the stated gauge.
