Seymour Tee
Meet: Seymour Tee! The newest addition to my ‘London inspired’ pattern line.
This top down colorwork tee combines our new squishy Cria DK, with our Homestead Sport to create an exceptionally soft yoke motif.
This sweater was inspired by Henry VIII third wife, Jane Seymour. Jane was a prolific and skilled embroiderer, often being praised for her talent with the needle. She was also known for her gentle and peaceful nature which had been commented on by many royal ambassadors of the English court. Jane was publicly proclaimed Queen of England on June 4, 1536, and the following year on the 12th of October, birthed a son: Prince Edward. Tragically, Jane suffered complications during her birth, and passed only 12 days later. King Henry was devastated, as Jane was to be known by Henry’s own hand as ‘his one true love’ which some historians speculate was due to her being the only Queen to ever successfully give Henry a male heir, and later in his will he proclaimed that upon his passing, he would be laid to rest next to Queen Jane. Jane was the only Queen of Henry VIII to receive a Queen’s funeral, and in the winter of 1547 when Henry died, he was buried next to Jane in St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, where they remain together, today.
