Shades of Denim Shawl
I’m so excited to share with you my new shawl pattern which uses my brand new pattern stitch the Denim Stitch, a variation of a slip stitch which creates diagonal and horizontal lines.
SHADES OF DENIM SHAWL
I wanted to create a shawl that looks like it was made out of denim. The denim stitch used in this triangular shaped shawl reflects the look of your favorite pair of jeans.
I was inspired by Aroha Knits 5 shawls in 5 days challenge and created a few different versions of the Shades of Denim Shawl. It is amazing what a little change, a different color or a different fiber can do to a pattern. The possibilities are endless. I included the directions for the modified versions in this pattern.
Pattern notes:
Yarn: 600 – 800 yards in Fingering, Sport or DK weight yarn. Shawl shown has been worked with Daily DK by Willow Yarns, DK / 8 ply, 100% Superwash Wool, 284 yards / 100 grams, 2 skeins in colorway Ice, dyed in blue by me.
Needles: 32 in (80 cm) size US 4 (3.5 mm) circular needle. Optimal choice would be an interchangeable needle set to easily switch cords as stitches increase.
Notions: markers, tapestry needle for weaving in ends, blocking pins and blocking mat for wet blocking.
Gauge: 17 stitches and 36 rounds = 4 in (10 cm) in denim stitch pattern.
Please note that this pattern has been test knitted and professionally tech edited.
