Shades of Winter is a rectangular scarf with a garter stitch border running along the sides. It is worked in two pieces. The first piece begins at the centre and worked out towards the end. The second piece is picked up along the cast on edge of the first piece and worked out towards the other end. Alternatively, a provisional cast on can be used. The centre panel consists of a Mock Cable pattern repeat that is worked in the main colour. It then changes to a Mosaic Tile motif that is repeated 3 times using a different colour for each repeat. The last section of the scarf reverts back to the Mock Cable pattern using the same contrasting colour as the first repeat of the Mosaic Tile motif. The scarf is worked back and forth on a pair of needles; however, a circular needle can also be used.

This pattern has been test knit.
