We met Charles Gandy when he came to the North Light Fibers mill after officiating a wedding here on Block Island. The shadow cowl was designed to highlight the North Light Fibers cashmere / merino Water Street yarn as well as the alpaca / merino Beach Avenue yarn.

Based on the basic Honeycomb cable, this intriguing cowl contrasts a DK weight of yarn against a worsted weight and further enhances this mystery by changing color along the way. Soft and subtle, this cowl will bring a warm delight to any winter day like few others… enjoy the knit.

The kit includes a skein of both North Light Fibers Beach Avenue in White Cap, and North Light Fibers Water Street in Lavender Fields. As always, we are happy to alter the colors.

North Light Fibers is a Micro Yarn Mill located on Block Island, RI where handcrafted minimally processed yarns are produced from exotic fibers such as alpaca, yak, camel, cashmere, mohair, bison and other specialty fibers. All washing, dyeing, carding, spinning and finishing is performed here at the mill on the Island. Please come visit and take a tour of the mill and see the farm – walk among the alpaca and pat a yak or feed the Scottish highland bulls. Our goal is to establish year round economic sustainability to a very seasonal economy in addition to producing world-class yarn. We hope you enjoy it!
