Shadow on the Wall
“Shadow on the wall” is a hybrid between a big wrap and a poncho, but also a bit like an oversized cardigan without sleeves, with a back neck slit which will make it sit comfortably on your shoulders. It features big contrast color triangles in Stockinette interrupted by main color Garter ridges.
Although this is a long-lasting project, with more than 2000m, it is mindless (apart from the Mosaic version of the border which is optional. It is not boring, but at the same time isvsuitable for TV knitting.
All you need to know is how to knit, to purl … and you will learn one new technique called “Intarsia knitting” which will prove to be quite simple (just twist the 2 yarns when they meet). The 4-color border optionally includes moon motifs in Mosaic or stranded knitting, but could be worked in simple Garter stitch as well.
The poncho wrap comes along in 2 sizes, for 3 different gauges (20, 22 and 24 sts on 10cm), so it is not only easy, but also very flexible.
Approx. 2300-2600 m of a Fingering or Sport weight needed for small/ big size, divided between
- 1800-2000m MC (main color) and 3 CCs (contrast colors):
- approx. 150-210m of CC1,
- 150-170m of CC2 and
- 200-220m of CC3.
You probably know Isager Yarns. A yarn which works quite as well, at a better price (Ruppert Garne Soft Donegal, which I have used for other projects and designs) can be found here:
