Meet Shaggy Sheep. This little lamb really stands out from the flock. He is a black sheep with the curliest, softest, whitest fleece imaginable! This adorable toy makes a lovely gift and delights all he meets, young and old. He is soft and comforting to cuddle, and the texture of the hair is interesting for little fingers to touch. The unique method to create the hair is a lot easier than you may think - it doesn’t require seaming or stitching, but is crocheted to the sheep’s head in a continuous method.

You can make your sheep’s hairdo as long or as short as you like. You can give a nice short curly do, or perhaps you prefer your sheep unshaven, and want to cover it all in curls. That’s the best bit about amigurumi, is adding your final touches to give your doll it’s own personal touch.

This crochet pattern includes easy to follow instructions with a helpful diagram to show you how to join the legs as you go, and a detailed description on how to create the sheep’s curly hair.

Gauge is not important for this pattern. I have listed some yarns that you can use above, but feel free to choose whatever yarn you like. If you use a heavier or lighter weight yarn, keep in mind that this will change the size of your finished product. With a 4.5mm hook and 8 ply yarn, the sheep measures approximately 28 cm (11 inches) height.

Face Patch, Ears, Inner Ears – Contrast Colour – CC1 (grey) – approx. 20 gr (35m/38 yd)
Fleece/Hair – Contrast Colour 2 – CC2 (white) - anywhere from 50 - 100gr (87.5m-175m/95-190 yd) depending on how thick or long you want the fleece.
