Shale Beach Shawl
The Shale Beach Shawl features an elegantly simple allover chevron design, making it the perfect canvas for highlighting many of the beautiful tonal and hand-dyed yarns currently on the market.
The pattern has been professionally tech edited and test knit to reduce the potential for error.
CONSTRUCTION
It is a triangular shawl knit from the top down in three panels. With its straightforward design, the Shale Beach Shawl lends itself to being a great project for novice lace knitters as well.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Knit and purl stitches
- Slip stitches
- Increase and decrease stitches - M1L, M1R, yo, k2tog, ssk, sl1 k2tog psso
- Twisted stitches - ktbl
- Picking up stitches
INSTRUCTIONS
The pattern is charted, but includes partial written directions to assist those new to charts in getting started. There are NOT complete written row by row directions.
YARN NOTES
Our sample was knit double-stranded with approx 1,320 yds (1,206 m) of luscious, Knit Picks Shimmer lace weight yarn to take advantage of the fiber content (70% Baby Alpaca, 30% Silk) and the splendid colorway, Blue Glass.
However, this pattern is equally suited to fingering weight yarn knit with a single strand. You will need approx 660 yds (603 m) of fingering weight yarn.
