Shallal
Shallal means waterfall in Arabic, and this cabled headband mimics the twisting and turning of water in a waterfall. Using simple short rows with no wrapping, which create a series of holes like yarn over lace to frame the central cables, this is a quick and easy project to make. It is thick and wide enough to be worn as an ear warmer, or strictly as a hair accessory.
Materials:
approximately 70 yards / 65 meters Aran weight yarn
sample knit with Quantum Entanglement Mythos (100% Merino) - (182 yards / 166 meters, 3.53 ounces / 100 grams per skein) in Ra
2 cable needles
Finished Measurements: approximately 4.75 inches / 12 cm deep at the center
16 inches / 40 cm circumference (unstretched)
Skills Required: Knitting in the round, knitting back and forth, chart reading (not strictly necessary, but will be much simpler than slogging through the written instructions), using short rows, cabling.
