This snood is made up of a range of patterns that are completed in sections using two colours of yarn. It is started using a provisional cast on, knit in the round and then the stitches at the beginning and end are grafted together to create a continuous snood.

It is knit in Jamieson & Smith Shetland yarn in jumper weight (fingering), approximately 4 balls of each colours is required.

Shallmillens is the Shetland word for “smithereens” or lots of pieces and is an apt name as this snood is made up of little pieces of different patterns.

It is an ideal project if you are new to knitting with more than one colour as there is no shaping, the patterns are relatively simple and are repetitive and if you knit it in only two colours you don’t have to keep changing yarn!

You could also alter the length: if you want a shorter, tighter snood leave out one of the pattern sections and if you want a longer length you could repeat one or two of the sections.

You could even do a multi coloured version which would be a great stash buster.

APPROXIMATE SIZE: 153 cm x 15cm (60.25 in x 5.75 in) before it is grafted together.
