The Shamrock gift bag is a cute little filet crochet bag that can be used for gifts or for storing little odds and ends.
Skill level: Intermediate or advanced beginner. Filet crochet is an easy technique which uses only basic chain and double crochet stitches (US terms) but the thin yarn and small hook size might make this project a bit fiddly for an absolute beginner.
Size: the example pictured here is approximately 10cm x 13cm (4 x 5 inch)
Gauge is not crucial and will depend on the yarn you choose and your personal tension.
Yarn: 15-20g of a laceweight/4ply cotton yarn. I used Scheepjes Maxi Sugar Rush. A good substitute is Aunt Lydia’s Classic Crochet thread size 10.
You can use other yarn weights in which case you will need to adapt the hook size and the size of the bag will of course differ.
Hook: 1mm or 1,5mm depending on your tension. Hook size will also depend on your choice of yarn. I recommend choosing a smaller hook than suggested for your yarn, to make sure the stitches are firm. For this example I used a 1mm hook with Scheepjes Maxi Sugar Rush. My testers used 1,25mm and 1,5mm hooks. Both worked nicely and their Shamrock bags turned out beautifully.
The pattern has been tested and checked for errors, however, please do not hesitate to let me know if you find a mistake.
