Shark and Whale Socks Double Knit
Knit your own socks that have both a whale and a shark at their cuffs! This sock pattern is reversible (the top part) and has the illusion of having two different kinds of motifs when you fold over the top part of the socks. This looks amazing and exotic and will also give the cuff extra warmth and strength.
The technique used is double knit, so the right and the left side of the sock (only the top part) are knitted at the same time (one knit stitch is followed by one purl stitch in the other colour), therefore this is a challenging project. If you have not tried double knitting before, this is probably too difficult (try something that doesn’t require following a chart if you’re a beginner).
After the shark/ whale part of the socks, a fairly easy wave pattern in two different colours imitates the waves of the sea that the whale or shark are swimming in.
Detailed instructions for knitting the heel and toe are also included.
The material to be used is sock yarn in two contrasting shades of blue.
The size is a woman’s medium, but the pattern can easily be repeated to fit bigger feet.
