Shark Fin Bookmark
This super cute shark fin is the perfect beach bookmark for your summer reading!
There is a free video version of this pattern.
The shark fins are worked flat, stitched together, and then a chain string and tassel are added to make it a bookmark.
There really is no gauge to this pattern, but the finished shark fin is about 1 inch tall and the string is about 10 inches long. The string size is entirely customizable, so you can make it as long or short as you want.
This pattern requires knowledge of chaining, slip stitches, and single crochet stitches. It is worked flat in 2 pieces and stitches together. It is beginner friendly, but working with crochet thread and small hooks can be difficult for beginners, so keep that in mind if you’re new to using crochet thread.
You’ll need a 2mm crochet hook and about 10 yards of gray size 10 crochet thread (or whatever color you want your shark fin to be. You’ll also need a needle (I use a sharp embroidery needle, not a yarn needle) to weave the ends in, poly-fil or other stuffing to lightly fill the shark fin (optional but I like the look), and scissors.
