Sharkskin Shawl
How are volcanoes, sharkskin and knitting all connected? Science! No, really. Cooling lava sometimes form a crusty “skin” that resembles sharkskin, and lava glows in between the cracks. I happen to think this pattern looks a bit like that.
Plus, fire, volcanoes and explosions are just damn cool.
This pattern is a sideways-knit asymmetrical shawl, with increases placed along one side, and garter borders on both. It integrates Bavarian twisted stitches. If you’re not confident in doing twisted-stitch cables, I’ve included information on substituting them for regular cables.
Both written and charted instructions are included. I’ve noted where in the pattern you can do extra repeats of the pattern for a larger shawl.
Note: if you are a KU subscriber, you can, at this time, obtain this pattern for free!
