I am a product of the women’s movement, which first gained serious momentum in the seventies, and have been an ardent feminist ever since. When I first started practicing law, decades ago, I was typically the only woman in the courtroom. All other attorneys and judges were men. As a new graduate interviewing for jobs, I was repeatedly told that women could never litigate and that law firms would never hire women.

We designed this shawl “Shattered Glass” to celebrate the momentous election of Vice President Kamala Harris. This easy to knit shawl is our homage to Vice President Harris, who brings new hope and vision to that office and to women across the country. Like the earth shattering feat of her election, and the shattering of outdated mores and
constraints on women, we hope that “Shattered Glass” represents the limitless possibilities of all women in the 21st century.

We collaborated with Veronica of Dream in Color to create a
colorway for the shawl inspired by the glorious colors of the coats worn by several inspirational women at the recent Inauguration.

To further celebrate this historic election, and in honor of Vice
President Harris, we are donating 50% of all pattern sales,
and 10% of all kit sales to Emily’s List — an organization
dedicated to promoting the election of progressive women to office.
