Shawl so Fabulous. Shawl so Neat. Shawl in Bias. Shall be Knit.
@ Cardigans Knit Shop in Santa Barbara, this shawl pattern is one of the most popular. It’s easy to knit; a great traveling project.
The New Pink Variation: Madelinetosh Prairie pair w/ Filatura Di Crosa Superior. Use YO for increase and add a extra YO/K2tog (YO/SSK) for extra lacy look. I thread some ribbon yarn thru the lace to create this festival look.
I add a small lace boarder to the shawl. If you look closely on the white and red shalw. Both has a hint of lace boarder. white shawl is knitted w/ 2 strand of Filatura Di Crosa Superior cashmere/seta. 3 skeins.
The red shawl: Jade Sapphire hand spun cashmere and stash.
Knit a Scarf-shawl to match the shoes! A fabulous appearence. Here are just a handful of examples.
I have knitted at least a dozen of this scarf-shawl, for gift or for keep. This is a fabulous, versatile piece. It can be fashioned in 5 different ways:Asymmetric shoulder wrap, Bolero, Hoodie/ Cowl, Scarf with a key hole, finally just a shawl you throw over the shoulder.
You can knit it with any yarn, knit it longer or short. It depends in which climate where you plan to wear it.
Knit for a man/boy (It’s a wonderful scarf for him too) with larger loop opening.
This project is one of the my favorite project to teach. I had knitted from cashmere (the white and the red ones in picture) or in banana fibers from Nepal; from mohair to added sequences (black). This piece is in knit Sts stitches, “graft” to finish. Don’t let the word “grafting” stop you. You can always find a friendly fellow knitter to halp you with it.
if you want to learn grafting (Kitchners), there are many instructional video posted online.
