My daughter was planning her winter wedding, and asked me to make a cover-up that she could wear outdoors for her pictures. She wanted to take advantage of the scenic Hudson River with outside photography, yet be cozy and comfortable. I knew she would want something elegant, yet functional to keep her warm. I designed this shawl to be easy to wear , as well as stylish. It is one piece, so she would not have to fuss with keeping the shawl closed. There are no seams to sew, the end product is sleek and neat. I included three back buttons to be sewed onto a placket, so the shawl would open wide and not mess her hair. I used crystal buttons, but pearls or glitter would also be beautiful. I surprised her with fingerless gloves to finish the look. She was thrilled with the final product, and I gave her the shawl for her shower. It was just what she wanted, and knows she will be able to use it often after her wedding day. It will be perfect for other receptions, to work and even over her jeans on a fall , winter or spring day. It can be dressed up or dressed down, and the shrug received great praise, and a number of requests. I used a merino wool/ silk blend, so the coverup is soft, flowing and rich.
