Shawlus Maximus
This shawl is named in honor of my long-time collaborator and fellow fiber enthusiast, Max. Max shared my love of knitting and spinning and beautiful yarns. He was always willing to help with whatever project I was working on, and we shared many happy hours sitting and knitting. He was a good friend, and a damn fine cat.
This is a crescent shawl knit from the center top. It’s designed to be ergonomic -- it curves around the neck and hugs your shoulders. It uses a very different -- and easy -- method to begin. After a stockinette section, there are rows of increasingly larger chevrons, ending with openwork triangles along the bottom edge. You could change this to a garter stitch shawl by knitting the wrong side rows.
Gauge isn’t critical, and this shawl can be made with yarn weights ranging from lace to sport.
The pattern includes written instructions and charts.
