Over the years I’ve tweaked this pattern but one of the main changes is the toe, I now prefer a rounded wedge toe:

Continue working the foot until 1.75 inches shorter than your desired finished length.

Work as per pattern until 40 sts remain, then work decreases in every round until 20 sts remain.
